Message from AHAEC president Dan Cross:
It is with great pride that I announce our Club’s success at Convention this year. Jill Barton received the National Level Volunteer Service Award for 2011 for her unending support of The Arabian Breed. Dr. Arthur King received the Directors Award for his dedication to the breed and the Endurance Division. Jane Whitwell and Jean Dinsmore received the AHA Club award for dedication to our club. Jane for her continued great job representing AHAEC and the Arabian Horse at The Royal. Jean for again making the Royal Red the best classes at our Regional’s. The only continued payout program offered at the Regional level. Last but certainly not least Allan Ehrlick again won the Presidents Award for Excellence along with The rest of the Canadian Show Commission for their efforts to Save The Canadian Nationals. If not for Allan and his associates there is no doubt in my mind we would not of had a Canadian National Show. MY hat goes off to all of our award winners and all the other people that dedicate their time to the Arabian horse and our club, AHAEC. THANKS to you All

The following is a message from CAHR
Hi Everyone, As you all know, we have been blessed with a new computer system. The upgrade, which was implemented on April 12th, took 6-8 weeks to be fully operational here in the CAHR office. To start, we were able to access a ‘dummy’ system that we could practice on before we entered any transactions into the live system, which we did for about a week. The shut-down of our system, coupled with the learning of the new one and the constant issue of slow processing (now corrected by means of a new server at AHA) and an incredible array of errors, glitches, bugs and other things that even now stall progress, has made being efficient absolutely non-existent. Regularly we are forced to pull a transaction that we have entered, relay the issue regarding the glitch to the AHA, wait for a response, find the file, re-open and correct it. Getting through the backlog is incredibly slow and frustrating. At this point, we are currently taking 6-8 weeks to enter transactions. Anyone who did not complete a transaction prior to April 12th (ie: it was still pending when we went off-line) is in an unfortunate position. The new system also took a long time to recognize the old transactions, so we were unable to even enter error correction for any of these until a few weeks ago. These transactions are also slow to enter as still occasionally the system does not accept the info we input and we have to blindly find the original files (if required) by date of entry. We have no way to locate old file/work order numbers in the new system. As well, the lab is unable to communicate with the new computer system, so the AHA has to input DNA info by hand. I rec’d my first set of DNA results from the AHA just a few weeks ago. Nearly everyone that we speak to has been understanding and patient during this transition period. Occasionally we have had members who have a show, sale or travel plans, etc and we either provide a letter or allow for a paid Rush to ensure they get their transaction done. We have had a very very small number that have been less than understanding. Sherry and I are working diligently to get through the immense stack of paperwork. It’s not going to be a quick process, especially transactions that do not come in fully completed. I know that people are anxious to get their paperwork. We’ll be doing our best.
